Detectives from the Mossman Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a 42-year-old man after he allegedly recorded a person without their consent in a private place.
It will be alleged at around 9pm on November 13, the man used a phone to record a woman at a Cape Tribulation accommodation facility.
It is further alleged the woman confronted the man, before he fled the facility.
Two hours later police located the man on Mossman Daintree Road and he was taken into custody.
The man was charged with one count of observations or recordings in breach of privacy.
He is due to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 4.
Police believe there may be other victims and are appealing for information that may be able to assist their ongoing investigations.
It is understood the alleged offender visited and stayed in caravan parks, campsites, and other budget accommodation in the following areas:
- Noosa Heads between September 12 – September 17
- Seventeen Seventy between September 20 – 28
- Airlie Beach between September 28 – October 1
- Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay and Townsville between October 1 – November 2
- Cairns between November 3 – November 4
- Port Douglas between November 4 – November 5
- Cape Tribulation between November 7 – November 13
Detective Senior Constable Kevin Spies from the Mossman Criminal Investigation Branch said investigations are continuing.
“This alleged behaviour is not tolerated in our community, and we are appealing for public assistance to ensure all potential offending is fully investigated.”
