A man has been arrested after two stolen cars were seen within minutes of each other in the northern suburbs this afternoon.
About 3.45pm on Friday 23 October, an off duty police officer spotted a stolen vehicle travelling on Fenden Road at Salisbury. Northern District patrols were quickly on scene and located the Mazda station wagon on in a carpark off John Street.
A 45-year-old man from Salisbury Plains was swiftly arrested at the scene. He was charged with illegal use and breach of bail. He will be further charged in relation to stolen property located inside the vehicle. He was refused police bail and will appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 26 October.
The Mazda was stolen about 1pm on Thursday 22 October, from a driveway in Mahood Street at Elizabeth Grove.
Shortly after, the off duty officer saw a second unrelated stolen car on Barry Street at Salisbury. The grey Toyota Hilux was seen to travel north on Fenden Road before the officer lost sight of the vehicle.
Patrols located the vehicle travelling on Saints Road and then onto Barndioota Road. The Police Helicopter was called in to assist with the search of the vehicle however it was unable to be located.
During the pursuit of the vehicle the Hilux collided with two other vehicles on Bonython Street at Salisbury Plain. Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the collisions.
The Hilux was stolen sometime in the afternoon on Thursday 22 October from a property in Concordia.
Police ask anyone who sights the stolen grey Toyota Hilux with registration XA716W, to contact Police on 131 444.
