Officer assaulted, threatened; three charged, NSW

Three men have been charged, and an officer allegedly assaulted during the arrest, following an incident at Surry Hills overnight.

Just before midnight (Saturday 23 February 2019), three men were refused entry to a licensed premise on Oxford Street due to intoxication.

It’s alleged the men argued with security guards and acted aggressively until police, who were patrolling nearby, intervened.

The trio then failed to move-on when requested by police and were subsequently placed under arrest.

It’s further alleged the men resisted arrest and fought with the officers before one man hit a male constable in the face and verbally threatened a female constable.

The group was taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

A 22-year-old man was charged with assault police; resist arrest; possess prohibited drug; intimidate police; and continue intoxicated behaviour.

The Kembla Grange man was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 24 February 2019).

A 20-year-old man was charged with resist arrest; possess prohibited drug; and excluded person remain in vicinity.

The Cringila man was also refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

A 23-year-old man was charged with resist arrest and continue intoxicated behaviour.

The Lake Heights man was given conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 28 March 2019.
