A serving police officer has been charged over an alleged assault last year.
The incident occurred on Friday 5 October 2018, when a man was allegedly assaulted while in custody.
Today (Monday 4 February 2019), following an investigation by the Professional Standards Command, a senior constable – attached to Central Metropolitan Region – was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for common assault.
He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 19 March 2019.
The officer’s duty status is being reviewed.
