A police officer has been charged with allegedly possessing child abuse material in Sydney’s south west.
In June 2024, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation into reports an officer was allegedly in possession of child abuse material.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 25-year-old constable, attached to the South West Metropolitan Region, at Campbelltown Police Station this morning (Tuesday 17 September 2024).
He was charged with possess/control child abuse material-use carriage service.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday 10 October 2024.
The man is suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.
