A serving police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged domestic-violence related offences.
In October 2023, officers from the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation following a report of theft of operational equipment.
Following inquiries, a 41-year-old senior constable – attached to a command in the Western Region – was charged with 21 offences, including
- Larceny as a public servant (two counts)
- Goods in custody (four counts)
- Possess or use prohibited weapon without a permit (five counts)
- Possess unauthorised pistol (two counts)
- Possess ammunition without holding a licence or permit (two counts)
- Category C, D or H licensee not comply with storage needs
- Embezzlement as a public servant
- Not keep firearm safely – pistol (two counts)
- Use unauthorised pistol
- larceny
He was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today (Thursday 15 February 2024), where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Armidale Local Court on Monday 11 March 2024.
The officer’s employment status is under review.
