A police officer is recovering in hospital after being allegedly stabbed during the arrest of a man at Doonside this morning.
Emergency services were called to Hill End Road, Doonside, about 12.30am today (Friday 22 November 2024), following reports of five men fighting.
On arrival, officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command saw a hatchback being driven away.
A pursuit was initiated by officers from North West Metropolitan Region Operational Support Group (OSG), with assistance of officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command, PolAir and North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad (RES).
A short time later the pursuit was terminated on Power Street with the car hitting a power pole and three men allegedly running away.
It was during the arrest of these men, that police will allege a male constable was stabbed in the chest by a 20-year-old man.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
The three men – aged 21, 20 and 18 – have been taken to Blacktown Police Station.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced.
