Real-life ‘Genie’ and former youth minister turned entrepreneur, Mark Bowness, decided that the world needed to dream more. And unlike a genie, he wanted to grant more than three wishes. Faced with the doom and gloom of COVID, he knew that people around the world, were struggling to see beyond the next day, let alone dream of their future or even have a dream. He also knew from the success of his own dreams becoming reality despite tough times, that dreams were not exclusive to fairy tales and can come true. But the public needed help.
Mark had experienced his own fair share of adversity. His first dream at the age of twenty-six, of leasing a one hundred-acre island in Fiji and inviting the world to join him in creating an eco-island, became a prime-time TV show airing in four countries; yet unbelievably, was ‘dreamt’ within days of sadly, an attempt to take his own life.
With further challenges, testing his faith in dreaming, presenting during the global financial crash and losing his business, Mark came to the realisation that dreaming was the only solution to overcoming fear and succeeding in life. Sitting in his rented apartment aged twenty-eight, Mark had yet again hit hard times.
“I had no idea how I was going to pay the bills; I took money from one overdrawn credit card to pay off another. Moving back in with my parents to regroup I realised that when life hits us hard, when the economy is damaged, when the unemployment rate is the highest that it has been, it is those who dare to dream and take action on their dreams, that can turn it all around and armed with knowing I had dared to dream when I was rock-bottom once before, I was determined to do it again,” said Mark.
And he did, launching a highly successful global business helping failing coaches to run prosperous online businesses.
Now, aged forty, Mark wants others to dream big and share those dreams with him and allow him to make them come true. He has set about bringing together those with a dream and those who can fulfil another’s dream with either their time, resources or skills.
‘DreamFuelling’ is calling the world to dream big and to tell Mark what those dreams are as he promises to turn as many of them as possible, into reality. DreamFuelling is seeking to build a worldwide army of those prepared to help make dreams come true.
The dreams that he is most keen to fuel are those that will benefit individuals, the community or the world in some way.
“Whether you are a single parent who has a dream to go back to night school so that you can create a better future for your child, or a young athlete who would like a sports lesson from their favourite sports star, or have a vision to launch a charity to help your local homeless community, no dream is too big, or too small. This is my dream – to make dreams for others come true” says Mark.
DreamFuelling is not a crowd funding website and is not asking people to provide money to support dreams, simply to offer available resources or skills that they may already have in the pursuit of fulfilling a dream.
Mark is passionately driven by the need to leave a legacy and show others the power of having dreams. Having launched only this week to his friends and contacts, he already has 76 dreams submitted and over 204 DreamFuellers, with numbers rising by the hour of those offering to be part of the Army, or with dreams.
One such dream is turning first world junk into third world treasure. Mari, living in Australia but originally from Brazil, has seen furniture thrown out that could be used in less developed countries where poverty is significant. The recycling of furniture and household items that would otherwise end up in landfill could be sent to families in poorer countries to help them set up home.
Mark has amazing offers from a radio host to help someone create their own podcast and astonishingly, someone offering a flight in a fighter jet! And another moving story of a survivor of domestic violence, offering to work to end it and offer safe shelter to other women.
Mark is hoping to attract the attention of celebrities and high-profile personalities to join the Dream Fuelling army too.
