On 21 May, Murrindindi Shire Council held an online meeting for business owners to discuss opportunities to help businesses recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We had a great response with almost 200 registrations. There were a range of businesses represented, including accommodation, hospitality, retail, agriculture, leisure and recreation services, professional services, real estate and construction.

Council’s Tourism and Events Portfolio Councillor, Jackie Ashe said it was outstanding to see so many business owners as well as the Victorian Small Business Commission show their support for Council’s online event.

‘We wanted to hold this meeting to gather important information from local business about how they have been affected by COVID-19 and what they’ve been doing differently to adapt to the current situation.

‘It was also a great opportunity to look ahead to what’s next for business in our Shire. With restrictions set to ease, businesses have a whole new set of rules to get their head around. It’s important that everyone follows the Victorian Government’s requirements, but every business is different and what works for one business may not work for another – it’s about being flexible and looking for opportunities to work together.
