VETERANS and their families in Perth now have easier access to Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling (Open Arms) with the Applecross office relocating to a more centrally located Mount Pleasant address – 37 Reynolds Road.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Darren Chester said the new office offered additional space for a growing workforce, which meant more services and support for veterans and their families in Perth and the surrounding region.
“Open Arms is the frontline mental health service and the increased space provided in the new office improves our ability to support more members of the veteran community,” Mr Chester said.
“The increased office space will assist with meeting the mental health and wellbeing needs of serving, ex-serving personnel and their families, and providing great capacity to our Open Arms Peer Advisors.”
The Open Arms Peer Workers help veterans and family members struggling with their mental health, bringing a lived experience of mental health and, importantly, of recovery. The Community and Peer Program is being rolled out nationally to support veterans and their families.
In addition to the increased office space, clients will be welcomed into a more contemporary environment that offers greater comfort and amenities.
“If you are serving, ex-serving or a family member who may be struggling or in need of additional support, I encourage you to call Open Arms 24/7 on 1800 011
