Opening Door To A World Of Creativity In Bendigo

  • Premier

A dynamic new art experience will be unveiled in Bendigo this weekend, to complement Bendigo Art Gallery’s latest Australian-exclusive exhibition Tudors to Windsors: British Royal Portraits.

Premier Daniel Andrews was in Bendigo today to preview 1000 Doors, an all-ages art installation in Rosalind Park that invites audiences to unlock their imagination as they wander a labyrinth of rooms.

The installation, created by Melbourne artists Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney, was a hit when it premiered at last year’s Melbourne Festival, attracting 20,000 people.

The installation has been brought to Bendigo by the Art Gallery as part of the Bendigo Easter Festival.

1000 Doors adds another creative drawcard to the city, alongside the international exhibition Tudors to Windsors which is shaping up to be another Bendigo Art Gallery blockbuster having already attracted thousands of visitors.

Direct from London’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Portrait Gallery, the exhibition showcases more than 200 portraits of the British royal family from sixteenth century through to today, along with historic fashion pieces and personal items from royals past and present.

Bendigo Art Gallery is one of Australia’s oldest and largest regional galleries. It has built a reputation as a destination for art lovers with exhibitions that have brought hundreds of thousands of visitors and millions of dollars to the region.

1000 Doors will be open daily in Rosalind Park from 6-28 April with extended hours over the Easter weekend. Tudors to Windsors: British Royal Portraits is on show until 14 July 2019.
