Operation Clean Up’s mammoth kerbside pick-up is complete after about two months of hard work following the Christmas and New Year severe weather events.
More than 77,000 truckloads of waste has been removed from the kerbs of more than 1600 streets across the Gold Coast since Christmas Day.
City crews are also sweeping areas with specialist equipment to remove uprooted trees and stumps which were left due to concerns the underground services, like water, telecoms and gas, may have been caught up in the root system.
The City is also assessing parks and nature strips which lost trees to determine if the best way to revegetate the areas.
City crews who had been diverted from other City projects to help with the Operation Clean Up kerbside pick up will now return to their regular duties.
Operation Clean Up also operated a grants program which provided vulnerable storm affected residents financial assistance to clean up following the severe storms.
