Operation Reorder nets 15 arrests in Ballarat

Ballarat and Moorabool police have arrested 15 people as part of Operation Reorder targeting high volume crime.

Moorabool and Ballarat’s general duties officers were supported by the Divisional Response Unit and detectives from a number of crime specialist units during the four day operation which ran between Thursday 28 February and Sunday 4 March.

Officers executed a number of warrants, conducted bail compliance checks and ran covert patrols at crime hotspots in order to detect and disrupt crimes such as burglaries, drug trafficking and robberies.

Detective Inspector Greg Payne said the results were outstanding will help to significantly reduce crime in the community.

He said, “what’s particularly impressive is three of some of Ballarat’s high risk, recidivist offenders were arrested during this weekend’s Operation.”

15 arrests were made over the four days for offences including home invasion, aggravated burglary, drug trafficking, criminal damage, evading police, thefts of and from motor cars and other traffic matters.

A stolen vehicle containing stolen property was also recovered along with a quantity of methyl amphetamine.

Charges were laid against 15 people, including:

A 33-year-old Ballarat man has been charged with 34 charges including aggravated burglaries, thefts, evading police and driving offences

A 45year-old Ballarat woman has been charged with home invasion and robbery.

A 20-year-old Ballarat man has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, assaults and multiple charges.

A 26-year old Melton man has been charged with aggravated burglaries and thefts.

A 17-year old Ballarat man has been charged with aggravated burglaries and thefts.

A 31-year old Ballarat woman has been charged with obtain property by deception and handle stolen goods.

A 38 -year old Ballarat man has been charged with trafficking and possessing drugs – including amphetamine and cannabis.

All offenders have been remanded to appear at Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh Magistrates’ Courts today.
