Investigators from the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad yesterday closed a six-month operation targeting drug offences committed across the Brisbane and Logan areas, by a criminal syndicate.
As part of Operation Romeo Sunroof, investigators working in partnership with Logan District Police and specialist units executed search warrants on nine properties in the Brisbane and South Eastern Police Regions.
During the protracted operation, police seized 14 kilograms of cannabis, 360 grams of amphetamine, 26 grams of cocaine, MDMA, taser device, $150,000 in stolen machinery, one $80,000 vehicle and $146,230 in cash as proceeds of crime.
Eight people were charged on 52 offences, including a 28 year-old man from Springwood on trafficking in dangerous drugs and receiving tainted property. The man is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 8. The seven others charged have been bailed to appear in court over the next few months.
“This protracted operation focused on disrupting and dismantling the illegal activities of this local syndicate. The district will continue to run these types of operations to target the trafficking and supply of drugs to stop crime and make our community safer.” Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gavin Pascoe of the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad said.
