Northern Territory Police have wrapped-up another successful school holiday operation in the Wadeye District.
Operation School’s Out 3 ran throughout the Term 3 school holidays, from 27 September to 14 October 2019, and targeted anti-social behaviour and property related criminal activity.
Police worked collaboratively with other Government Agencies and Non-Government organisations to ensure an effective and coordinated response to reduce the level of harm to the Wadeye District including the communities of Wadeye, Peppimenarti, Palumpa, Daly River and Pine Creek.
Property crime was a significant focus of this operation and repeat offenders were spoken to on a regular basis. Houses vacated over the holiday period were identified and these properties were closely monitored with regular checks being conducted.
A total of 499 individual external checks were conducted on 37 houses. These increased patrols also resulted in a reduction of personal and property crime.
Superintendent Peter Kennon said, “The results of the school holiday operations is a testament to community members and organisations working together with police to prevent crime and enhance community safety”.
