Operation Whiskey Legion: Search warrants, Wide Bay Burnett

Police have seized drugs, firearms and almost $300,000 in cash through search warrants across the Wide Bay Burnett district, under Operation Whiskey Legion.

This week, specialist police, including the Tactical Crime Squad and Dog Squad, joined forces with local officers to target high-risk offenders, to ultimately reduce harm across the community.

These search warrants are included in the 65 search warrants executed across the Wide Bay Burnett district since this Operation Whiskey Legion deployment began on August 1.

So far, a total of 369 people have been arrested on 1,247 charges.

On August 5, police executed a search warrant at a property on Truro Street, Urangan, where they allegedly located 153 grams of methylamphetamine, a quantity of prescription drugs, and drug utensils.

A 25-year-old Torquay woman has been charged with three drug offences.

She has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on October 10.

A 42-year-old Wondunna man has been charged with two drug offences.

He has been issued a notice to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on August 22.

Police also executed a search warrant at a property on O’Connell Parade, Urraween, where they allegedly located a quantity of drugs including 125 grams of methylamphetamine and 30 grams of cocaine as well as drug utensils and cash.

A 32-year-old Urraween man has been charged with 11 offences including drug and domestic violence related offences.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on October 10.

A 27-year-old Urraween woman has been charged with three drug related offences.

She has been issued a notice to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on September 10.

On August 6, police executed a number of search warrants at properties across Bundaberg, locating quantities of methylamphetamine and cannabis, replica firearms and thousands of dollars of cash.

One of the search warrants was executed at an Electra Street, Bundaberg West property which resulted in a 27-year-old Bundaberg West man charged with 10 offences including trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of weapons.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 24.

A 20-year-old Bundaberg West woman was also charged with nine offences including trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of weapons.

She is due to reappear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 24.

On this day, specialist police, including members of the Crime & Intelligence Command, were deployed to the Hervey Bay and Maryborough areas to locate and arrest several high-risk offenders.

One of these was a 21-year-old Granville man who has been charged with 17 offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons, fraud – dishonestly make off without paying, contravention of domestic violence order and possessing dangerous drugs.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on August 8.

Finally, also on August 6, police executed a search warrant at a property on Churchill Street, Maryborough and allegedly located $21,000 in cash and a variety of drugs including heroin, methylamphetamine, morphine, GHB, and prescription drugs.

A 42-year-old Island Plantation man has been charged with 13 drug related offences.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on August 8.

A 33-year-old Maryborough woman has been charged with 11 drug related offences and one count of authority required to possess explosives.

She is due to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on September 17.

The combined raids in Bundaberg seized almost $300,000 in cash.

0.00 – 0.17 refers to the search warrant at Truro Street, Urangan.

0.18 – 1.48 refers to the search warrant at Churchill Street, Maryborough.
