The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast widespread rain and storms from today into the weekend, with heavier falls forecast for the North West Slopes around Moree.
Alongside partner agencies, NSW SES is working with communities already affected by floodwater across the State, including sandbagging and resupply drops.
Yesterday, minor flooding was forecast in the Greater Sydney area from Friday until the weekend, including the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment.
However, our focus remains along the Murray River at Moama, where major flooding is expected.
NSW SES has been doing resupply drops to isolated properties in western and southern NSW.
With many road closures across Western NSW, we continue to ask drivers to stay away from floodwaters.
In total, there are 66 warnings, including 8 Emergency, 23 Watch and Act and 35 Advice warnings.
Overnight the NSW SES had 174 Requests for assistance and 3 flood rescue activations.
NSW SES is urging residents in the impacted locations to be aware:
- Some roads were damaged during previous flooding. If you come across a flooded road, stop, turn around and find another way. Check Live Traffic before you leave.
- Every flood is different so stay up-to-date using new NSW SES website map to find out advice for particular location.
- Check for weather updates.
- Farmers should plan early to move livestock to higher locations.
- There is a lot of water out there. Stay away from creeks and rivers. If you come across flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest possible place and call Triple Zero 000 if you need rescuing.
For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW SES on 132 500, or if life-threatening call Triple Zero (000).
