About 900 metres of Ophir Road will be upgraded thanks to $700,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Safer Roads Program.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said the Ophir Road upgrades will deliver a safer and improved journey for hundreds of locals who use the road every day.

“Over the next six weeks, about 900 metres of Ophir Road will be resurfaced and upgraded including widening the roads, improving the camber and the installation of roadside safety barriers,” Mr Farraway said.
“These upgrades will make the road safer for all road users whether they are travelling into Orange for school or work, or travelling out to Ophir Reserve.”
The NSW Government’s Safer Roads Program is designed to save lives by funding projects that target higher risk parts of the roads network.
“We know targeted projects like this one can make a real difference to local communities like Orange by reducing the risk of fatalities and serious crashes,” Mr Farraway said.
“It is fantastic to be working with Council to deliver these upgrades and I want to thank them for partnering with us to deliver safer roads for NSW.”
Orange Mayor Jason Hamling was pleased to see work getting under way on the improvements.
“Ophir Road not only provides important access to Orange for those living at Clifton Grove, but is a vital corridor for the many rural residents that live further afield and come into town for work, school and shopping. It is also often busy with log trucks driving to and from state forests in the area,” Cr Hamling said.
