Opportunity for business community to help deliver Commonwealth Games

We’re encouraging local businesses to throw their hat in the ring and apply for the many opportunities available to deliver goods and services for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in regional Victoria.

With less than three years until the Games arrive in Geelong, the City has commenced a local supplier engagement program to support and inform businesses to tender for the more than 1,200 goods and services procurement opportunities on offer.

There are two tenders currently available:

  1. for the King’s Relay (closing Sunday 16 July) – aligning with Geelong’s UNESCO City of Design designation, this is an incredible opportunity for local suppliers to collaborate.
  2. Project management and Quantity surveying services for (closing Thursday 20 July).

Some of the goods and services procurement opportunities that will go to market include:

  • 2023: Mascot program, Telecommunications services, IT security services, Festival production team and Uniforms supplier.
  • 2024: Festival site operations, Delivery of ceremonies, Ticketing supplier, Medal design and manufacture, Venue audio-visual systems, Security services, Catering services, Waste management, Furniture, Fittings and equipment for venues and villages,Water infrastructure and Sporting equipment.
  • 2025: Sport facility flooring and surfaces, Landscaping, Fire safety, Physiotherapy services, Mobility aids, Medical services and devices and Medical testing.

More than 7,500 jobs are expected to be created before, during and after this major sporting competition.
