Orange Regional Gallery will host a free opening event on Friday 2 December at 6pm to launch its newest exhibition of highlights and recent acquisitions from the Gallery’s collection.
The exhibition, which is on show in the Alan Sisley Gallery is open to the public from Saturday 3, December.

Orange City Council’s Services Policy Committee Chair Mel McDonell said the collection had expanded rapidly over the past five years thanks to the extraordinary generosity of artists and collectors.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to see works from some of the country’s best-known artists, which are part of the gallery’s permanent collection but aren’t always on display for the public,” Cr McDonell said.
Orange Regional Gallery’s collection was founded on the Mary Turner Collection, which she presented to the City of Orange in 1982. Since then, the permanent collection has grown to include more than 1100 works of Australian art, dating from the 1920s to today. The gallery’s recent expansion has allowed it to display more of its permanent collection more often.
Recent additions included in the exhibition are works by John Olsen OAM, Elisabeth Cummings, Peter Boggs, Kevin Connor, Rachel Ellis, Hendrik Kolenberg, Margaret Loy Pula, Mandy Martin, Arthur McIntyre, Mavis Ngallametta, T om Polo, David Serisier, Tim Storrier, Aida Tomescu and John R Walker. These will be shown alongside collection highlights.
The Gallery will also display a recent gift by Rosslyn Sweetapple of 11 paintings and watercolours by Roland Wakelin, Grace Cossington Smith, Enid Cambridge, Judith Pascoe, Justin O’Brien and others.
“Come along and see for yourself why our gallery’s collection is so highly regarded,” Cr McDonell said.
“These new acquisitions will take pride of place in the Alan Sisley Gallery until the end of June 2023.”
Orange Regional Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm daily and entry is free.
