Nillumbik Shire Council is proud to present Local Remix: Still Life – a captivating new art exhibition that reimagines ordinary objects into extraordinary works of art.
Local Remix features significant still life works from the renowned Nillumbik Art Collection, alongside newly commissioned installations by acclaimed artists Kenny Pittock, First Nations artist Tricia ‘Vandal’ Van Der-Kuyp, and local Nillumbik artist Nusra Latif Qureshi.
The free exhibition is now on at Montsalvat Barn Gallery until Sunday 23 June.
The exhibition invites us to see the beauty and artistry in the everyday objects that surround us.
Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said Nillumbik has a rich artistic heritage.
“Supporting and showcasing creative expression through exhibitions like this is vital for a vibrant community,” Cr Ramcharan said.
“Art challenges us to see the world in new ways and appreciate the beauty in the details around us.”
In addition to the exhibition, Local Remix: Still Life will feature a series of free workshops led by the commissioned artists, offering children and adults the chance to create their own still life works within the gallery space. These workshops include:
- Create an Imaginary Zoo-scape with artist Nusra Latif Qureshi
- Unpack the History of Objects: Nusra Latif Qureshi
- Kenny Pittock Drawing and Zine Workshop for Kids
- Kenny Pittock Drawing and Zine Workshop for Adults
- Crafty Paper Quilting Workshop with Vandal for Kids
Local Remix: Still Life promises to be a captivating and thought-provoking exhibition for art enthusiasts of all ages.
