Orford Man Charged With Hooning, Evade Police

A driver has been charged with honing after an incident at Scamander at the weekend.

St Helens Police responded to reports of significant “burnouts” on Scamander Avenue in the early hours of Sunday, 23 June.

On arrival, police located a white Toyota utility in the middle of the road.

A man was also located at the scene, and allegedly fled on foot before being arrested nearby a short time later.

The 32-year-old Orford man was charged with evading police, and hooning offences.

He has been bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Inspector Luke Manhood said police would continue to target unlawful driving behaviour such as hooning.

“Hooning and dangerous driving behaviour will not be tolerated,” he said

“Our community can be assured that in addition to high visibility patrols, local police will continue to actively target this type of offending to keep our road users safe.”
