A man will re-appear in court today charged with large commercial drug supply following a joint investigation into the supply of illicit drugs.
In February 2019, detectives from the Organised Crime Squad and the NSW Crime Commission established Strike Force Nacurrie to investigate a criminal network suspected to be involved in the supply of prohibited drugs.
During the course of the investigation, officers from Albury Highway Patrol stopped a Subaru on the Hume Highway, near Holbrook, on Tuesday 23 July 2019.
During a search of the vehicle, police seized six packages of heroin, with a total weight of 2.2kg and an estimated potential street value of more than $1.1 million, concealed within a hidden compartment in the boot of the car.
Two men – aged 31 and 33 – were charged at the time and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 28-year-old man at a home on Highgate Street, Strathfield, about 7am on Friday 27 September 2019.
He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.
Police will allege in court that the man organised the transport of illicit drugs, including methylamphetamine and heroin, from Sydney to interstate locations.
He was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court on Friday 27 September 2019, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at the same court today (Wednesday 27 November 2019).
Investigations are continuing.
