Organised Crime Squad detectives release CCTV following drive-by shootings – Strike Force Tromperie

Organised Crime Squad detectives have released CCTV vision as investigations continue into two drive-by shootings in Sydney’s west last year.

In December 2022, detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad – together with the NSW Crime Commission – established Strike Force Tromperie to investigate the activities of an international criminal syndicate involved in the supply, manufacture and importation of prohibited drugs, illicit tobacco and firearms.

As part of ongoing investigations, detectives received information in relation to two unreported drive-by shootings at Campbelltown and Glen Alpine.

In the first incident, an unreported public place shooting is believed to have occurred at a home on Glen Alpine Drive, Glen Alpine, on or about Friday 25 or Saturday 26 August 2023. A subsequent crime scene warrant was executed at the residence with a discharged bullet recovered from within the roof cavity.

On 14 November 2023, investigators executed a search warrant at the Glen Alpine home. The occupant a 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with drug and firearm offences.

He appeared at Campbelltown Local Court where he was formally refused bail and is due to appear at the same court on Wednesday 3 July 2024.

In the second incident, a public place shooting reportedly occurred at a home on Farnsworth Avenue, Campbelltown, sometime between 10.30pm and 11:30pm on Wednesday 27 September 2023.

Campbelltown Detectives conducted a subsequent crime scene warrant at the residence with a discharged bullet recovered from within an internal wall along with CCTV footage.

Following inquiries, a 30-year-old Campbelltown man was arrested following a vehicle stop at Gregory Hills on Tuesday 10 October 2023. He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with drug and firearm offences.

He appeared at Campbelltown Local Court where he was formally refused bail and is next due to appear at the same court on Wednesday 23 September 2024.

As investigations continue into the two incidents, which are believed to be linked, police have released CCTV of two vehicles detectives believe can assist with their inquiries.

The first vehicle captured at Glen Alpine is described as a dark coloured sedan and the second vehicle captured at Campbelltown is described as a dark coloured hatchback, believed to be a Hyundai i30.

As investigations under Strike Force Tromperie continue, anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
