Fiona Lake will put more than 30 years of professional photography experience to work when helping to judge the 2020 Life and Light in the Western Region photo competition.
Fiona has judged many national and international competitions and wants to reassure entrants that even images taken with phone cameras can win, because what matters most is meaningful results and how well the camera has been used.
She is also a fully licenced drone pilot and is looking forward to seeing whether there are aerial entries this year.
“Capturing good quality images from the air is quite a bit harder than from the ground. Novelty value isn’t enough to win — images need to have a clear purpose or impact. Entrants must also make sure they fly within Australia’s drone rules, as listed on CASA’s website,” Fiona said.
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Love Our Outback’ and there have already been over 200 images submitted which include both agricultural and environmental perspectives.
