Council approved funding of $142,122 across 31 community groups at its Ordinary Meeting on 23 November
2021.
“It’s always rewarding to see the variety of projects that are championed by our passionate locals and to be able to help them achieve their goals,” said Mayor Jan-Claire Wisdom.
“Our district is large in area with diverse communities and through these grants we’re able to support various worthy projects from assisting Koala Rescue in the Hills, controlling feral plants in the Willa Willa and upgrading watering at the Sri Lankan Buddhist Vihara, to over $19,000 of upgrades to the Birdwood Netball Club change rooms.”
The community grants are separated into Community Development Grants,
which aim to help deliver initiatives for building community capacity, and
Community and Recreation Facility Grants, which contribute to improvements and
upgrades to local infrastructure in the area.
