A provisional driver has been charged after being detected allegedly travelling at 170km/h on the Hume Motorway at Menangle Park overnight.
Officers attached to Macarthur Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties about 10pm yesterday (Thursday 5 October 2023), when a hatchback was seen travelling north/south? allegedly at high speed.
A speed check revealed the alleged speed of 170km/h in a signposted 110km/h zone.
The 26-year-old driver was stopped and subjected to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result, and the man was arrested.
He was taken to Eagle Vale Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.110.
The man, from Bargo, has now been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice (FCAN), for the offences of drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, P1 driver exceed speed limit by more than 45km/h, and drive with mid-range PCA.
The man is due to appear before the Picton Local Court on 8 November 2023.
The man’s licence has been suspended.
