P-plater charged after cyclist seriously injured in Ku-ring-gai Chase crash

A teenager has been charged with multiple offences after a cyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Ku-ring-gai Chase ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Ku-ring-gai Chase Road, Bobbin Head, about 11.15am (Wednesday 2 January 2019), after a crash between a cyclist and a Toyota Lexcen.

The cyclist, a 51-year-old man, was seriously injured and NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR at the scene.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital under police escort where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He was then taken to Hornsby Police station and charged by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit with five offences including;

– Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm

– Negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm

– Drive in a manner dangerous to the public

– Overtake when unsafe, and

– Not keep left of dividing line.

The teen’s P2 provisional licence was suspended, and he was granted bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 16 January 2019.
