The Pacific Highway is closed in both directions between Sawtell Road in Boambee and Stadium Drive at Coffs Harbour, due to a police operation.
Northbound motorists can consider exiting the highway at Lyons Road and travel via Toormina Road, Hogbin Drive and Harbour Drive to rejoin the highway in Coffs Harbour.
Hogbin Drive is currently closed southbound with motorists travelling in this direction urged to delay their journey.
Traffic is very heavy in both directions, as well as surrounding roads.
There is no forecast for when the highway will reopen.
