Workshops, come-and-try sessions, live performances, morning teas and movie events are just some of the activities planned for this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival in Mildura.

The festival is an annual event that runs throughout October featuring a packed program aimed at local residents 55 and over.

Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing Troy Bailey said the majority of events were free to attend.

“This is a great opportunity for seniors to learn more about experiences on offer by trying them first-hand,” Cr Bailey said.

“The aim is to provide new experiences and broaden awareness of activities available in the region.

“Along the way, participants will be able to join the clubs and groups involved in this year’s program of events as well as meet new people, expanding their social networks.”

Cr Bailey said there were almost 20 activities planned across the region, taking in areas including Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple, Merbein and Ouyen.

Activities include low-impact fitness classes, Walking Group come-and-try sessions, water aerobics classes and workshops on how to use technology safely.

One of the highlights of this year’s festival is a live performance by the talented Glenn Starr, whose Hit Parade will take audiences on a nostalgic journey through the unforgettable hits of the 1950s and 1960s. Hit Parade will be performed at the Mildura Arts Centre, with tickets just $5 thanks to support from the Victorian Government.
