Around 2,000 Australians develop brain cancer every year. Over the last 30 years, the number of people surviving other types of cancers has steadily improved. However, the five-year relative survival rate for brain cancer has stayed low, at around 23%.
The MRFF’s is providing $126.4 million over 10 years to support research into brain cancer. This amount includes $50 million from the MRFF and $76.4 million from funding partners. The Mission aims to double the survival rates and improve the quality of life of patients with brain cancer.
The Australian Government has appointed the to advise on the Mission’s research priorities. The panel will revise the existing and develop an Implementation Plan for the Mission.
