Following a series of global economic and geopolitical shocks, The University of Western Australia’s Public Policy Institute will present an expert panel on Tuesday, 28 November to examine Australia’s economic prospects and challenges in 2024.
“Our final Breakfast by the Bay panel for 2023 is part of an essential conversation about not only Australia’s economic prospects, but also our those of our neighbours in the Indian Ocean region and other global trading partners.”

Lockdowns, outbreaks of warfare, interest rate hikes and persistently high inflation have disrupted supply chains and energy and commodity prices – and soaring housing and rental costs have pushed more Australians into a cost-of-living crisis.
UWA PPI Director Associate Professor Paul Maginn said we appeared to be on the cusp of a period of unpredictable global volatility.
“We need information, we need insights, and we need to ask questions,” Professor Maginn said.
