To accommodate the temporary relocation of Sandringham Primary School students to the Bluff Road campus of Sandringham Secondary College, changes to traffic and parking management around the school will come into affect from Tuesday 26 May.
The relocation of the primary school students follows the fire that destroyed Sandringham Primary School earlier this year.
Council has worked with the schools to manage the increase in traffic expected as a result of additional students attending the secondary college site. Our key aim is to ensure the safety of students, teachers, parents, local residents and their visitors.
The two schools will stagger student start and finish times in order to spread the flow of traffic in Bluff Road, Lansell Avenue and Lawson Parade in particular.
To efficiently manage the increased traffic and parking demand around the school, the following changes will be in place:
- A drop off zone will be established on both Lawson Parade and Lansell Avenue from 8:15-9:15am and 2:30-4pm on school days
- A ‘No Stopping’ zone will be established on the south side of Lawson Parade between Bluff Road and Lansell Avenue during the above times on school days
- A ‘No Stopping’ zone will be established on the east side of Lansell Avenue between Lawson Parade and the end during the above times on school days
- A two hour parking zone on south side of Lawson Parade between Lansell Avenue and Clement Street.
These measures will only be installed on temporary basis and are subject to ongoing monitoring. Other existing parking controls in this area will remain unchanged.
Council will continue to work with the schools, Department of Education and local residents to ensure the safety of students and local residents during school drop off and pick up times.
Thank you to students, parents, teachers and local residents/businesses and their visitors for your patience and understanding during this challenging time for the school community.
