Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen is departing for Bali to support the Indonesian G20 Presidency and deepen the bilateral relationship as Indonesia hosts crucial ministerial G20 meetings this week.
The visit will focus on actions and initiatives to combat climate change and to support the global energy transformation as the world moves towards net zero emissions by 2050.
Minister Bowen will attend the G20 Climate and Environment Ministerial Meeting in Bali on 31 August with Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek.
The Minister will also attend the inaugural Australia-Indonesia Ministerial Energy Dialogue with Indonesia’s Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif.
This dialogue will build on the discussions between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and President Joko Widodo on 6 June 2022 and may include discussions on renewable energy grid integration and energy efficiency.
Finally, the G20 Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting will examine the global energy transformation and current challenges to energy supply chains.
Minister Husic will be acting Minister for Climate Change and Energy in the Minister’s absence.
