Locals are invited to turn an ordinary Tuesday into a great family night out at a party in Sturt Park next week to mark the 140th anniversary of the discovery of the Line Of Lode.
The event will run from 5pm-9pm on September 5, and feature great food, live music, camel rides, face painting, a sensory zone, and a mining-themed laser light show spectacular to close out the evening.
Multicultural food stalls will be hosted by Giovanni & Co, Outback Thai, Fresh Pizza, Mexican Kitchen, Pasties & More, and Carol’s Cakes, while live music will be provided by local Bowden McAllister and Adelaide band ‘Me N Me Mates’.
Me N Me Mates are known for their traditional and contemporary music, which features everything from Australian bush and country music through to folk songs.
Council’s Community Development Coordinator, Rachel Merton, said she hoped the Tuesday afternoon timeslot would make it easy for families to attend.
“We know a lot of people are busy on weekends, so this will provide an enjoyable and relaxing opportunity for locals to break up the week,” said Ms Merton.
“There’ll be lots of interesting food to try, live music, camel rides and face painting for the kids, and of course the big laser show to finish.
“Hopefully we see plenty of people in the park to celebrate our city and acknowledge this important milestone in our history.”
