“The NSW Premier Perrottet must come clean about all the details of his special call to the Minister for Health Brad Hazzard to obtain an ambulance for Mr Perrottets wife. The logged calls to Mr Hazzard must be released to the public to make sure Mr Perrottet did not receive any special treatment from the Minister for Health.”said Dr Robert Marr OAM GP and President of NSW Doctors Reform Society.
“As a GP working in both Sydney and rural areas I have heard of 3 patients dying of heart attacks due to delayed ambulances and hospital under staffing in NSW over the last 2 years due to Mr Perrottets governments underfunding of NSW Ambulance and hospital services.” said Dr Marr.
“While it is understandable that Mr Perrottet would do everything possible to get an ambulance for his wife it is not acceptable that he let NSW Ambulance and Hospital services run down so badly that NSW patients are dying due to delayed ambulance services”said Dr Marr
“The unwillingness of the Perrottet government to increase Paramedics and Nurses pay to the level of other states has resulted in a shortage of Nurses and Ambulance professionals in NSW and this has lead to some NSW patients receiving hospital care too late to save their lives” said Dr Marr
“In country towns where I have worked ,such as Condobolin and Bourke, there wasnt any full time doctor or specialist at the hospital and over worked nurses had to cope with emergencies such as heart attacks etc.which risks unnecessary deaths”said Dr Marr
“NSW voters must demand, from both main political parties, better funding for NSW health services ,particularly in western sydney and rural areas other wise more lives will be lost unnecessarily”said Dr Marr
“The NSW Doctors Reform Society believes there needs to be a Royal Commission into hospital and health funding in NSW to make sure money is being spent where it can save the most lives not just benefit those with the most influence” said Dr Marr
