PD Axe has located the alleged driver of a car who took off from police in Salisbury Heights this morning.
About 1.20am Saturday 29 February 29, Northern District police were patrolling on Green Valley Drive when they conducted a registration check on a Blue Holden VT. Checks revealed the car was unregistered and uninsured.
The patrol activated their red and blue lights to pull the car over; however the car refused to stop and took off at speed away from them. Police did not pursue the vehicle but radioed in for extra patrols to attend the area.
Luckily, police dog PD Axe and his handler were in the area and minutes later they located the car abandoned on Kinkaid Road at Elizabeth East.
PD Axe tracked from the car and allegedly located a 24-year-old Elizabeth Downs man nearby. He was arrested and has been charged with fail to stop, drive unregistered, uninsured and drive disqualified.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
