A man and woman wanted over an alcohol theft were arrested in Mile End this morning.
Just before 11pm Friday 28 April police were called to a hotel on Henley Beach Road at Torrensville after staff reported a man and a woman had entered and stolen alcohol before leaving in a red Holden Commodore. Staff were able to provide a registration number and a description of the pair to police. Patrols searched the area but could not locate the car at the time.
About 3am Saturday 29 April police dog PD Cooper and his handler were driving along James Congden Drive at Mile End when they spotted the red Commodore. Police activated their emergency lights to stop the car, which apparently broke down on the side of the road as it came to a stop.
PD Cooper jumped out and managed to detain the female driver, but the male passenger ran from the scene. Henely Beach patrols also attended and chased after the man who (unluckily for him) tripped over enabling the patrol to catch up and place him under arrest.
The driver, a 32-year-old Brooklyn Park woman, was breath tested allegedly returning a positive result of 0.121. She has been charged with theft and drink driving. She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 4 July.
The passenger, a 32-year-old Brooklyn Park man, has been charged with theft and hinder police.
The car was towed from the scene.
