A man has been charged with being unlawfully on premises after he was caught at an industrial yard at Burton early this morning.
Just before 2am Monday 25 March police were called after a vigilant member of the public saw a suspicious car parked near an industrial premises on Diment Road.
Northern District patrols attended and cordoned the address calling in the assistance of police dog PD Ruger to help with the search. PD Ruger and his handler located a hole in the fence and commenced tracking inside the premises where they allegedly located a discarded beanie.
A short time later patrols pounced on a man as he allegedly attempted to flee through one of the cordons near Heaslip Road.
A 57-year-old Ferryden Park man has been charged with being unlawfully on premises and unlawful possession after a search of the man’s car allegedly uncovered a number electrical items.
He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 24 April.
