The Tour de Brisbane is the only day of the year cyclists can safely ride on Transurban’s motorways – when they are closed to motorists. The rest of the year, our tunnels are not places you want to be riding a bicycle or scooter. Riding in our tunnels (and on our toll roads generally) is both dangerous and illegal – but despite the risks, we are seeing too many instances of people attempting this. (Our control rooms spot all riders and safely assist them off the road).

Brisbane is a cycling friendly city, and we support safe cycling across the community. ​Everyone is encouraged to join in the 2025 Tour de Brisbane – and the rest of the year, there’s dedicated bike paths along the Go Between Bridge, Gateway Motorway and Inner City Bypass that connect cyclists with many of the city’s key areas.
