Pedestrian Dies After Crash At Penrith

A pedestrian has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Sydney’s west today.

About 12.45pm today (Friday 27 September 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of Mulgoa Road and Ransley Street, Penrith, following reports a man on a mobility scooter had been struck by a car which failed to stop after the crash.

The pedestrian – believed to be a man aged in his 80s – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following enquiries, police arrested a man at a shopping centre on Jane Street, Penrith, about 1.45pm.

He has been taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing.
