People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS On Hold Until 2021

Territorians’ favourite music festival, People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS scheduled for 31 October this year, is on hold until 15 May 2021 due to uncertainty around unfolding COVID-19 developments.

This is a difficult but necessary decision in order to put the safety of Territorians first.

With the latest COVID-19 developments in Victoria and New South Wales, the Territory Government has tough border controls in place to restrict travel from those hot spot areas. This means it won’t be possible to deliver People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS to the world-class standard music fans expect in 2020.

But in great news, some of Australia’s best live acts have already confirmed their attendance at the festival in 2021.

Northern Territory Major Events are planning to make next year’s festival more memorable than ever, with the following artists already confirmed:

  • Hayden James
  • Missy Higgins
  • Peking Duk
  • Violent Soho

Pre-purchased tickets for the 2020 event will be valid for People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS 2021, or refunds are available through .

As noted by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

“We are making decisions that put the health and safety of Territorians first.

“We know that BASS is the Territory’s largest and most popular music festival and Territorians will be disappointed in its postponement to next year. But we have hard borders for a reason, and it’s to protect Territorians. We won’t put Territorians at risk.

“I’d urge ticketholders to hang onto their tickets as the line-up of artists that are on board for 2021 is huge – this shows that BASS has grown into an iconic fixture on Australia’s music festival calendar.

“The Territory Labor Government will keep doing whatever it takes to protect Territorians, and I know Territorians will make the festival next year the best one ever.”
