The Perth Casino Royal Commission is expected to deliver its final report to the Governor and Premier of Western Australia today.
The final report follows months of public hearings to examine the suitability of Crown Perth to continue holding a casino gaming licence and to look at the effectiveness of the State’s regulatory framework.
Now that the final report has been completed, the State Government will closely consider its findings and recommendations.
The Government will respond to the findings and recommendations, and table the report in Parliament after a period of consideration.
Several initiatives are already under way in response to issues raised by the Royal Commission’s Interim Report released in August last year, including conflict of interest management.
As stated by Racing and Gaming Minister Tony Buti:
“The Perth Casino Royal Commission has involved an enormous amount of work and the State Government thanks the Commissioners for their work.
“Western Australians can be assured that the State Government will be seriously considering all the recommendations put forward in the final report.
“This has been a long and thorough process and I also extend my gratitude to the Perth Casino Royal Commission for its work.
“Work can now begin on examining the findings and recommendations to ensure we have optimal systems in place to manage casinos in Western Australia.”
