Perth City Link lots to provide major housing boost in Perth CBD

As part of the Cook Labor Government’s continued revitalisation of the Perth CBD, Oceania Capital Group and Erben Place Pty Ltd have been named as preferred proponents for three of the final Perth City Link lots – providing a major boost to Perth’s long-term housing supply.

Following an extensive expression of interest (EOI) period and a rigorous evaluation, Oceania Capital Group has been named the preferred proponent for Lots 12 and 18 on Wellington Street, with plans to deliver a mixed use residential, commercial and a hotel/short stay development.

The preliminary concept proposes a 32-storey build-to-rent residential tower comprising more than 200 dwellings, as well as a 26-storey hotel and short stay apartment tower. The shared lower levels are proposed to include retail, hospitality, childcare and recreational facilities.

Erben Place Pty Ltd was named the successful proponent of Lot 19 on Roe Street, with a development proposal for a 19-storey student accommodation facility adjacent to the new Edith Cowan University (ECU) City Campus.

Designed to accommodate more than 1,100 students, the development is proposed to feature a mix of apartment types alongside ground-floor retail, food, and beverage activations.

The new developments are expected to bring thousands of new residents, students, and visitors to the area daily.

The lots are among the last available land created by sinking the railway and bus port to reconnect the Perth CBD and Northbridge.

The EOI campaign garnered considerable attention from local, national and international developers, underscoring the strategic importance and appeal of Perth City Link.

The remaining Lot 11 will be the subject of a future EOI process, dependent on market conditions.

“These lots are part of our plan to support delivery of more housing that is well-located, affordable and suits the needs of Western Australians.

“Boosting housing supply and choice in the inner city also helps to further Perth’s growth as a thriving modern city that is liveable and attractive to locals and visitors alike.

“My Government is working hard to breathe more life and vibrancy into the city centre, with the new ECU City campus, Perth City Link and redeveloped Perth Cultural Centre already transforming our CBD.”

“Our Government continues to drive the revitalisation of the Perth CBD and we’re investing hundreds of millions of dollars to create jobs, economic activity and attract more people to Perth.

“Along with the ECU City Campus, which will bring 9,000 to 10,000 students a day, this will provide a major boost to small business and breathe more life and vibrancy into our growing city centre.”
