The Australian ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Bridge Championships are being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre 10th – 20th July.
Teams representing NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT are competing in Open, Women’s, Seniors and Youth divisions to determine the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ winners for 2023.
Each team consists of up to six players plus a Captain who have trained and won qualifying rounds to win the honour of representing their state. It is a physically and mentally gruelling event playing all day for from Monday July 10 for four days to play in the Finals on the Thursday evening July 13 and all day Friday July 14th.
The ages of players range from only 14 in the Youth to over 90 in the Seniors. The winning teams will be honoured with trophies at the Victory Cocktail Party at 7pm on Friday 14 July.
In the second week, from Saturday 15 July to Thursday 20 July, the Joseph Greenfield ANC Butlers is a competition to determine the top pairs in Open, Women’s, Seniors, Restricted and Mixed divisions.
At the same time each day there are shorter competitions for WA club players and visitors to be able to compete, win prizes and enjoy playing bridge together.
The President of the Australian Bridge Federation, Allison Stralow who is actually from Perth, says “It is great to welcome Bridge Players from all over Australia to our most prestigious ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Bridge titles and for them to enjoy the wonderful hospitality, accommodation and restaurants that Perth has to offer visitors.”
The championships are from 9.30am – 6.00pm (Perth Time) at the Perth Convention Centre.
