  • Competition returning to Western Australia for first time in six years
  • Riders from across the country travelling to WA to take part in competition, providing a boost to local economy

Perth will host yet another action-packed and adrenaline-fuelled national off-road biking event, with the Western Australian Government signing a deal to host the AusCycling BMX Racing ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Championships in 2024.

The national BMX event will be held 9-12 October 2024 at the Balcatta-based Westside BMX Club.

Riders from across the nation, ranging from as young as five years old all the way through to masters’ level, are set to travel to WA to take part in the Championships next year.

The BMX Racing ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Championships was last held in WA in 2018, when more than 2,400 competitors and supporters took part in a successful week of racing at the Bunbury BMX Club, many of them travelling from interstate for the event.

The event is expected to feature many Australian Olympians on their return from Paris, and is a key qualifier for the 2025 UCI BMX World Championships in Copenhagen.

BMX racing has experienced steady growth year on year, with record participation at all state and national events so far this year following strong performances at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and both the 2022 and 2023 UCI World Championships.

BMX racing in Perth has had an established following since 1979, with the Westside club hosting regular competitions for its membership of more than 100 riders.
