Broken Hill’s beloved Picnic Train will be relaunched this weekend at a huge Easter celebration hosted by the West Darling Machinery Preservation Society.
The Community Day will be held on Easter Sunday at Queen Elizabeth Park from 10am-1pm, and will feature canteen facilities, train rides by gold coin donation, and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself.
All children in attendance will also receive a sample bag containing an easter egg, chips, sweets, art supplies, decorative bunny ears, and a drink.
Mayor Tom Kennedy said the relaunch of the Picnic Train would be a great event for the whole family, and also a chance to enjoy the newly refurbished playground.
“The relaunch of this train is an important moment for the community and a tribute to the hard work undertaken by everyone involved to give it a wonderful new family-friendly home,” he said.
“The Easter event is also one of the most vital fundraisers for the Machinery Preservation Society, so come along, bring the kids, and help support the Society in their important work in preserving our industrial history.”
Please bring cash on the day as EFTPOS facilities will be unavailable for canteen facilities and train rides.
