Homicide Squad detectives are seeking information regarding a fire in bushland east of Perry Road, Pinjar, near Banksia Grove, on Thursday 22 September 2022 which is linked to the death of 23-year-old Heathridge man Jack Aubrey KINNEEN.
About 1:45am St John WA advised WA Police Force they were responding to an incident involving an explosion which left a man seriously injured.
It is believed Mr Kinneen was four-wheel-driving with friends, when about 1:30am they encountered a fire near a bush track. As Mr Kinneen approached the fire an explosion occurred. St John WA personnel attended, however despite efforts to provide emergency first aid to Mr Kinneen he died at the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire has resulted in the fire being deemed as deliberately lit, with structural components of the fire having caused the explosion.
Detectives would like to speak to two people who were seen in the area at the time. The first person is a male, about 40 years old with balding hair. The second person is a female who was driving a silver or bronze Holden Commodore sedan – believed to be an early 2000’s model.
