GPs are reminded that from 1 July 2021 the maximum payment for the Aged Care Incentive (ACAI) has increased from $5,000 to $10,000 per year.
The funding boost of $42.8 million over two years which was announced in the 2021/22 Budget aims to increase face to face servicing by GPs in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs).
The tiers of the ACAI have been restructured to support GPs attending RACFs. GPs will receive increasing and accumulative payments based on the number of eligible MBS services delivered to patients in RACFs:
– Tier 1a) = 60 services for $2,000
– Tier 1b) = 100 services for $2,500
– Tier 2a) = 140 services for $2,500
– Tier 2b) = 180 services for $3,000
