Pittwater Road Shared User Path opens to public

PITTWATER ROAD SHARED USER PATH OPENS TO THE
PUBLIC

The new Pittwater Road Shared User Path has opened to the public, providing pedestrians and
cyclists with a continuous connection between Gladesville and North Ryde

The five -kilometre path runs between Victoria Road and Epping Road and was jointly funded by the
City of Ryde and the NSW Government.

City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Jordan Lane, said the new shared user path was part of Council’s
commitment to enhance acti ve transport and improve accessibility throughout the local government
area.

“The Pittwater Shared User Path will improve mobility and transport connections for our community,”
Clr Lane said.

“It also expands our burgeoning bicycle network and at the sam e time encourages people to stay
active and healthy.

“In addition, it shows how this Council is prioritising infrastructure that support s more sustainable
methods of transport, which will deliver improved environmental and health outcomes.

“I would like to thank the NSW Government and Transport for NSW for jointly funding the project and
for its continued support in vital infrastructure projects that will have enormous benefits for our
community both now and well into the future.”

Member for Lane Co ve and Minister for Planning and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s, the Hon. Anthony Roberts, said: “As
the local Member I couldn’t be happier with the result of the Government’s Shared User Path
Program. This new pathway will not only allow for better pedestrian and cyclist usage bu t encourage
it.

“Infrastructure upgrades that maximise community usage is a core part of this Government’s plan to
build stronger, more connected communities.”

The planning and development of the Pittwater Road Shared User Path was done in consultation with
the non -profit community -based Bike North User Group, environmental organisations and local
residents.

The opening of the Pittwater Road Shared User Path follows the completion of a separate cyclist and
pedestrian path on Epping Road, between Herring Road and Balaclava Road in Macquarie Park.
